Hey Sands! Are you looking for a volunteering opportunity? If you are, you're in luck. The Sands Student Council is hosting E-Waste collection events on June 19 & 20. You could volunteer for a number of positions to receive up to 10 hours of service. If you're interested, there is a sign-up sheet in the office. Camp Ignite 2021 for Grade 11 and 12 Girls.
Camp Ignite is a Not-for-Profit annual mentorship program run by female firefighters from throughout British Columbia. Founded in 2010, Camp Ignite is a program geared towards female participants in Grades 11 and 12. Their mission is to provide strong role models and a venue to empower young women to challenge themselves while learning new skills in a unique team environment that focuses on the firefighting profession. The Delta Fire Department will provide sponsorship to enable 3 girls in Grade 11 or 12 to participate in a two day-camp ([ https://campignite.com/ ]Camp Ignite Mentorship Program) on August 14 and 15, 2021 (Grade 12 students will be given priority). The camp is a hands-on learning environment to promote the fire service as a career for women and will be run with COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place. Deadline to apply: June 1. Application is attached or you may pick up a paper copy from the Career Centre. Please note that while you will be sending your application to Camp Ignite 2021, all Delta student applications will then be sent to the Delta Fire Chief who will select 3 students for the Mentorship Program. But registration on the CUE Website is required University of King's College is excited to share two new events that the University of King’s College will be hosting for students this fall. The first ever King’s Essay Writing Contest is open to grade 12 students. The topic is what makes a book a classic? We invite students to respond to this question using one text of their choice (a novel, play, graphic novel, poem, etc.) The winner will receive a gift card to the King’s Co-op Bookstore valued at the price of all the books students will need for their first year of university at King’s, and the winning essay will be published on the King’s website. The deadline is December 14. Students can find more details on our website.
We will also be hosting an online writing workshop for high school students, particularly those interested in our essay contest. Students will learn how to write a university-level essay from expert writing instructors who work in the Foundation Year Program. Michelle Wilband (Faculty member in the Foundation Year Program) and FYP writing coach Mark Burke will be hosting the online workshop on November 29 at 4 p.m. AST. This workshop is open to all high school students, and they can register for the event on our website. The KPU School of Business invites grade 10 - 12 students to represent your school in a competition to be crowned the Future Business Leaders of 2020. This year the two-day Future Business Leaders conference will be hosted virtually and also welcomes grade 10s to this case competition. Unlike previous years, KPU will be assigning students to teams. Participants will be mentored by faculty in our School of Business, gain university-level business skills, and have the opportunity to network with industry professionals. Each member of the winning team will receive a $1000 entrance scholarship to KPU's School of Business! Who can attend?Students At the Undergraduate Portfolio Events: Attendees are students who are currently in high school or have graduated and are looking to enter a university or college program. At the Graduate Events: Attendees are university students or university grads who are looking to pursue a Master’s level or post-baccalaureate. Parents/Teachers/Counsellors/Other We know that students have many kinds of supporters, and we welcome them all. The Health Foundations (HF) program provides foundational health courses which will prepare students with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply to a KPU nursing degree.
Through a competitive declaration process, students may continue through three years of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN) degree, or they may move to another faculty/program at KPU. Upon graduation, students receive a Certificate in Health Foundations. Pre-requisites for this Program are: English 12 - B Anatomy & Physiology 12 - B Chemistry 11 - B Foundations of Math 11 - B OR Foundations of Math 12 - C KPU will be accepting applications for this Program from: October 1 - November 1, 2020 Admission selection will be based on the highest admission average of the required courses.
